Sharing Your Digital Photos Online

If you think you need to know how to code in HTML or CSS to share your photos online, rest assured - you don't. There are many sites on the World Wide Web where you can share your photos.

One of the newest and most popular is Yahoo's flickr. flickr lets you upload photos and organize them in groups. With a free account you can also view other people's photos and join online social groups based on common interests. A paid account (as of this writing) runs $24.95 a year and lifts limits on uploading photos (free accounts limit you by bandwidth).

A long-standing photo sharing site is SmugMug. SmugMug has a 14-day free trial period after which you pay, but there are no limits on uploads.

If you do happen to want to create your own web site, however, there are several options you can consider - like Yahoo's GeoCities. Free sites are supported by ad banners, while paid sites have no banners and cost only a few dollars a month. An advantage to creating your own web site is that you can design the layout any way you want. But to do the site well, it's suggested you learn a little bit about the basics in web design, since it takes very little to make a web site look amateurish. Simply Google "web design" or something similar and start learning.
